This blog was created to post information we don't have time to discuss on Sundays, but is still great for everyone to know. So, if you have something you need, something you need to sell, a good deal you know of, or anything else you'd like the rest of the Sisters to know, e-mail Kera at keralea@hotmail.com to have it posted.

For Sale

If any of you need some last minute gift ideas, I have some jewelry I'm selling on behalf of the "Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund" (check out the website atwww.SemperFiFund.org). I have a pretty good selection of bracelet/earring sets for $15. Some are red coral and silver, quite a few have different kinds of turquoise in them. I also have some earrings and a few necklaces. The stones are really beautiful. All purchases are considered "donations" because the money is going to a non-profit organization. If you write a check, you'll receive a receipt in the mail for tax purposes. If you think you'd like to see what I have, please email me at oregondefords@gmail.com, call me at 503-370-7573, or find me at the Beckstrom's bash today.

** Thanks, Francine DeFord

The 2010 Nativity at the stake center is fast approaching. Part of this year’s celebration will include a crèche in the high council room. We are looking for a selection of unique nativity sets to display for our friends and neighbors to enjoy as part of our celebration of our Savior’s birth. If you would be willing to share your nativity that has special meaning to you, came from another country, or is truly unique, we would love to have you participate in our crèche. Thanks for all your generosity! I know how well everyone does at rising to the occasion :)

Singing in the Rain

... Yeah right. Rain at this time of the season can be so depressing, because we know it's going to be here for a long while! I googled "how to stay positive," and I summarized a little list of what we can do to keep positive without our BFF, the SUN.

1. Make lemonade! Yes, really. The smell of fresh citrus fruits often gives a boost to chemicals in your brain, making you feel happier :)

2. Start a new exercise such as Yoga or
Tai Chi.

3. Go play in the kids toy section at your local Walmart. Pick up a bright bouncy ball or other fun toy.

4. Take photographs. Go find beauty in the land around you and take some great snapshots. Decorate your walls with them!

5. Listen to upbeat music

6. Google "Positive Quotations" Example:
"There are always flowers for those who want to see them."
- Henry Matisse

7. Meditate. Through research we have learned that our brain changes when we practice meditation. Meditation helps combat stress, improves physical health, makes you sleep better, feel happier and feel more at peace with yourself.

8. Read a great book! May I recommend "Leadership & Self-Deception," it's an amazing read, and will change your outlook on those around you.

For a more detailed list, click here.

Hope everyone is able to stay positive in this dark, dark world we are plunging into! If anyone has any other tips, let me know, and I will post them. We need all the help we can get!
